Ice Shore House

Built in a challenging urban setting, the Ice Shore House is a new building adventure for an architect and former school teacher. The spatial design is guided by principles of universal access. Large glass openings and a glass floor insure maximal natural light. The visual architectural concept is achieved by the extensive use of brick with wood spaceframe construction. Geothermal heating and radiant concrete floors further enhance the quality of living. Glass suspensions on the façade and acrylic cabinets on the inside pay tribute to the ice cutters who toiled nearby in former times.
